On 25 October 2024 at 4.30 p.m., the temporary exhibition ‘Unconscious Invaders. Alien species in inland waters and threats to biodiversity’.
The exhibition presents the theme of the invasion of alien species in the inland waters of our territory, their impact and the causes of the invasions themselves, almost always attributable to human action.
The first room illustrates the dangers that certain exotic species of pond terrapins can pose to the European pond terrapin Emys orbicularis and the habitats in which it lives.
These issues are part of the European LIFE+ project URCAProEmys, in which the Museum is a partner, which aims to improve the conservation status of the native pond terrapin in Italy and Slovenia through a long-term programme.
